Pastor Patrick Morrison
Continued... Pastor Morrison has been married to Jane DeNeen Morrison since 1970. Through all their married years, Jane has teamed with her husband in some form in ministry. She was Pastor for Caring and Physical Plant for most of the time the Morrison’s were at the College Church. Jane’s calling to ministry was affirmed when the Southern New England Conference commissioned her in 2005. For more than 30 years, Jane has been known as “Teacher Jane” to hundreds of Cradle Roll or Beginner youngsters and their parents. She developed Cradle Roll Sabbath School programs to span the four quarters of the year and drew up the patterns to complete the set. There are hundreds of Sabbath Schools around the world using those programs. They have been translated into at least two other languages. Among Pastor Morrison’s greatest joys in ministry has been teaming with Jane in the Beginner’s classroom—on her turf. “There is no better platform to get to know the children and their parents,” he says. Pastor Mo and Teacher Jane have always considered young adults and children among their closest friends. Pastor Morrison graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University in preparation for ministry. The Morrison’s feel fortunate that they have not moved as often as families in ministry often do. They have lived four and one half years in North Dakota in three different assignments—the last being two years at Sheyenne River Academy, which began the 34 years of campus life. They were at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, for another twelve years. The last eleven years of campus ministry were at the College Church at Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. The Morrisons are proud of their two sons, Seth and Zachary, who both attended the schools at Andrews for their entire education—right on through to college graduation. Seth is an architect, and Zachary is a business graduate in the hospitality industry. Seth and his wife, Shelly Morrison, are the parents of Luke Patrick and Evie Jane. You can just imagine how Pat and Jane feel about their beautiful, intelligent, precocious grandchildren. Pastor Morrison enjoys nature. He and Jane feed birds in their backyard, so they can watch them. They love to travel. He also likes to take out his telescope to look at the beauty and majesty of the sky. One day soon, he says, we all will travel through God’s universe as easily as we commute to church. Come, Lord Jesus! |
