Adult Ministry

All Christians are called to ministry as an outgrowth of their spiritual journey. At Spencerville Church, we believe that every member is also especially gifted by the Holy Spirit to minister in unique ways for building up the body of Christ, and we are committed to providing support to make ministry possible.

Discover Bible School is a correspondence Bible study that Spencerville offers to anyone who is interested in studying the Bible. Interested persons send in an enrollment card and the first two lessons of 26 lessons, which are developed by the Voice of Prophecy, are sent out to the student. After completion, the student mails them to us where they are graded and returned to the student with the next two lessons in the series. An excellent series of lessons for friends, relatives, neighbors, or yourself! Enrollment cards are located in the foyer and in this packet.

Family Life Ministry is dedicated to the strengthening of the family in the church and community. Throughout the year, various parenting classes and marriage enrichment classes/seminars are offered. In the future, the Family Life Council hopes to involve older married couples in mentoring younger married couples in order to strengthen their marriages.

Health Ministry is dedicated to the education of the church and the community in the principles of healthful living. Health professionals have been brought to Spencerville to speak on various health topics. Cooking classes have also been part of this ministry.

Prayer Ministry supports the church in a very powerful, yet not always visible, way. Each Sabbath morning, a group of dedicated pray-ers get together and pray for the church leadership, the church body, and our worship services. They also respond to individual prayer requests turned in to our prayer stand in the foyer.

Children's Ministries

Children's Sabbath School, which conducts spiritual education for our children, is a priority of the Spencerville congregation.

Our Sabbath School classes are led by committed leaders, who spend several hours each week preparing and conducting these classes. The children are taught about Jesus in very dynamic and creative ways, and look forward to coming to learn more about Jesus with their friends.

The Sabbath School classes are organized as follows:

Beginners I: Ages 0 to 2 1/2

Beginners II: Ages 2 1/2 to 4

Kindergarten: Ages 4 and 5

Primary I: Ages 6 and 7

Primary II: Grades 2 and 3

Juniors: Grades 4, 5, and 6

Children's Church, scheduled for the third Sabbath of the month, gives children an opportunity for meaningful worship of God in an active setting. The elements of worship will include prayers, scriptures, messages, object lessons, music and offerings. The children will be encouraged to worship God with their "wiggles and enthusiasm!"

Vacation Bible School is offered each summer (usually in July) for the children of Spencerville as well as children of other churches and in the community. A program for youth will also be available.

Each morning for an entire week the children in VBS will have an opportunity to sing together, play together, make crafts and learn about Jesus - all while having an incredibly fun time!
