Jerry Lutz

Continued...
Following graduation he officially entered the gospel ministry in the Central California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, though his calling to ministry, he says, came at a very early age in his life.

After completing a two and one half years of ministerial internship in Visalia, California, Jerry attended the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where he received a Master of Divinity degree in 1981. From there Jerry returned to the Central California Conference to serve as senior pastor of three churches before accepting the invitation to come to Spencerville. Jerry received his ordination in the Northwest Fresno Church in 1984.

Jerry and his wife, Janet (Wake), met while she was attending Andrews University, where she earned a master's degree in education and behavioral science in 1982. Jerry and Janet were married that same year in her Hometown of Muncie, Indiana. Janet worked for Adventist Health Systems from 1985 to 1998 as a personnel director and a director of physician relations and recruitment, and she has been director of physician relations at the National Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. Jerry and Janet have one son, Jarrod, a student at Andrews University.

Jerry's passion for ministry lies in preaching, teaching, church administration and conducting personal Bible studies with new Christians and prospective members. He made a videotape on "How to Prepare and Conduct a Bible Study," which is a part of the Seminars in a Box series produced by the Ministerial Department of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He has also written various articles for the denomination on ministry subjects ranging from stewardship to Biblical interpretation.

He serves on the Chesapeake Conference Executive Committee and the conference personnel committee. He is also an active participant for various North American Division and General Conference projects and committees. He likes teaching and uses that gift at the church in classes, including "How to Prepare and Conduct Bible Studies" and "Fundamentals of Adventist Beliefs."

In addition to his regular responsibilities he enjoys music, woodworking, cooking, tinkering with auto-mechanics, history-of most any period, water sports and traveling. Word has it, Jerry also has a great appreciation for authentic Mexican and Chinese food.

Pastor Lutz's greatest desire in life is for Jesus to come soon.
